Research Group on Innovation and Equality in Education
The Research Group for Innovation and Equality in Education primarily focuses on issues related to education and society, the internal world of schools, and on students considered as the most important actors of education. In addition to pedagogy, the applied analytical approaches include those of sociology, economy, and social psychology. This interdisciplinary approach allows the use of various research methodologies; thus the research group conducts quantitative, qualitative as well as mixed methods studies. Our group also regularly organises workshops to discuss the theoretical background of such methodologies. The research group aims to produce relevant research that may contribute to increasing student and school effectiveness, by exploring students’ cognitive and affective characteristics as well as their school and family backgrounds. Research projects that focus on the student include those investigating the relationships between technology and education. Another important research objective is to identify, study, and evaluate pedagogical innovations that aim to increase school effectiveness, and reduce educational inequalities.
