Music and Language Development Research Group
Our research focuses on understanding how the human mind and brain deals with the two most complex human cognitive faculties, language, and music. We are interested in how these faculties reach maturity and how they develop throughout the lifespan. We are also interested in the relationship between language and music: what are the common and specific cognitive processes related to these. We use behavioural and brain research methods to investigate the neurocognitive background of language and music. We are committed to neurodiversity: we aim to understand speech, learning, and reading difficulties, and find ways for effective interventions based on music and rhythmic development.
